History of my Märklin Project Site

Mar, 2007

The Pictures page was updated with a movie from a busy day on the layout.

Jan, 2007

As the layout was close to be "finished" (?), the Pictures page was updated with 31 new pictures. Only one older picture remains, some pictures were moved to the Building page which also was updated with Signals and Waters sections. The Trains page was updated with content and pictures for 6 engines; The Ae 8/14 x 2, Ae 4/7, Eb 3/5, Ae 4/4 and Am 4/4.

Sep, 2005

The Pictures page was updated with 8 new pictures, as ballast, lights and backdrops (Faller "Neuschwanstein", No. 180512) have been added to the layout. Also some dummy catenary have been added (e.g. Sommerfeldt cross span bridges, No. 370, which have been soldered and painted using gray spray). The Trains page was updated with content and pictures for 5 engines; The Ae 6/8, RAm I, Ee 6/6, Ae 3/5 and Ee 3/3. Also, on the homepage, the animated "Krokodil" train was added.

Apr, 2005

The Loco Decoders page was updated with some information concerning the Märklin Systems mfx decoders. Also the Control Unit page was updated concerning the new Märklin Systems Mobile Station and Central Station. The site had not been updated since April 2004, due to change of job and other priorities.

Apr, 2004

Another conversion example was added to the Loco Decoders page in the Digital Dummy section. The Roco 43863, i.e. the Swiss Ae 6/6, was converted to digital using an Uhlenbrock 76500 decoder.

Feb, 2004

Introduced the new Building page, including some some tips and tricks that we have used constructing the layout. Some new pictures were also added to the Trains and Pictures pages, e.g. the new Re 4/4I "TEE". In January, the number of visitors exceeded 2,000 for the first time.

Dec, 2003

Added new pictures to the Trains and Pictures pages. The pictures focuses on the first layers of paint that was added on the layout, and on the new De 6/6 "Seetal Krokodil" and the new Ae 6/6 from Roco.

Oct, 2003

A conversion example was added to the Loco Decoders page in the Digital Dummy section. The Roco 43926, i.e. the Swiss Be 4/6, was converted to digital using a Märklin 60902 decoder. The Link page was updated, there are now links to 25 manufacturers of three rail locomotives.

Jun, 2003

The train page and the picture gallery was updated testing our new toy, and this time, it isn't a new fancy Swiss locomotive: It's a Canon PowerShot A70 digital camera... Well, OK, our Krokodil, purchased in May, could be considered as a new fancy Swiss locomotive.

Apr, 2003

The pictures gallery was updated.

Mar, 2003

Information about a Light Sequencing Module (for street and building lights) constructed by Perz, was added to the Layout section.

Feb, 2003

The Layout section was updated, as I have modified the tracks in the Meeting Point after testing the layout  running 5 trains simultaneously. The trains on the first track (MP1), when coming from Mattiasberg, were always locked by subsequent trains arriving from Mattiasberg on the second track (MP2). New pictures were added, mainly concerning the construction of the Mattiasberg mountain. The Link page was also updated.

Dec, 2002

The Trains section was updated, reflecting my current rolling stock, including some prototype background information. Several pages in the Digital Dummy section were also modified.

Nov, 2002

Introduced a minor section written in Swedish, comprising e.g. an article about my site that was published in the Swedish computer (!) magazine "PC Hemma" in November 2002.

Oct, 2002

Reached more than 10,000 unique visitors since November 2001. Updated content in various Digital Dummy sections, based on experiences in tuning the contact tracks etc. This takes some time, but it's fun and it's worth it!

Sep, 2002

Introduced the new Power Supply section incl. information on how to use a Märklin 6604 Delta Control as a booster.

May, 2002

The Railroad & Co software section was updated with information on how to manage "Train queues" on single tracks.

Apr, 2002

The Software section was updated with the Railroad & Co review, adding pages for "Selecting the Software" and "Implementing the Software". The Site Map page was introduced. The Link page was also updated, added some books from Amazon.com. Reached 100 links, which I plan to be the number of links to maintain. The Picture and Train sections, and the Homepage, were updated with several new pictures.

Mar, 2002

The Control Unit section was added to the Digital Dummy section based on experiences on the Märklin 6020 Control Unit vs. the 6021 Control Unit. The link list was also updated, added e.g. a "Various Manufacturers" header.

Sheets for brick walls etc. were added in the layout section. I also opened my new guest book on Guestbook.de. My previous guest book was provided by MultiCity.com, but they changed the services.

Feb, 2002

The Layout section was updated according to tuning and tests of occupied tracks at Mattiasberg. Due to the changes, now the trains will enter the station once only, each time they passes the Mattiasberg reversing loop.

Jan, 2002

Major updates in the Digital Dummy section, e.g. introduced the new Solenoids and Stopping Areas sections and updated content in all sections.

Occupied Track Feedback in the Digital Dummy section was updated e.g. with experiences on the combination of Occupied Track Feedback and Stopping Area Control.

The first pictures on my Märklin Project was added, photographed on December 8. Also, the link to Ibazar was replaced by a link to Tradera: As Ibazar was transformed to eBay, how can they expect Swedes to by Swedish items in USD or GBP?

Moved the site from Bip.net to Nameplanet.com on January 30. The Internet address peter.funck.net is now a "real" address, i.e. no more re-direction to another Internet address. In January, the site had more than 1,000 unique visitors.

Dec, 2001

tt_dagens.gif (3309 bytes) On December 30, this site was "The Link of The Day" on the great Danish portal TopTop.dk:

"Peter Funck fra Sverige er kommet langt med sit Märklin anlæg og har ved siden af dette fået tid til at opbygge et website der beskriver hvorledes man benytter elektronisk styring af Märklin M spor. Der er en god struktur og emnet er afgrænset og godt struktureret."

The first Digital Dummy pages were added; Main page, Loco Decoders page, Occupied Track page and Cost page.

Nov, 2001

The site is published for the first time on November 21, and linked from 8 great model train sites, e.g. Modellbahn-portal.de and Modellrallaren.com. The purpose of the site is to share experiences with the rest of the Märklin world, and maybe to inspire readers to get involved (again) in this exciting hobby. This "commercial" site is also an experiment from my side, to keep up to date about the Internet world:

I purchase some infrastructure services.
I finance this from some affiliate / advertiser programs.
I develop and maintain some site design.
I develop and maintain some site content.
I market the site at some portals and communities.
I supervise some site traffic.
I benchmark on some colleagues.
I deal with some legal issues.

In summary, it's a fun sidetrack of the model railroad hobby!
