Märklin Digital for Dummies ® Cost In this section, I will enter information on how to maximize fun and minimize cost. Buying used equipment can be justified if you purchase from people that you trust, in my case this is mainly from Kurt Bothner in Germany. Competition e.g. from the Intellibox is also pressing the Märklin items to a more comprehensive price level. Outdated tomorrow? I don't think so. The current Märklin Motorola specification haven't changed since 1994, and considering the volume of items sold since that year, Märklin cannot just change over night. The largest digital layout in the world, Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, is also using items both from Märklin and LDT, so I guess there are some that have spent more money than me... Do you want to enter into digital and operate your layout with a computer, almost without investments? Yes you can.
